top 100 albums 2000-2009

In the process of attempting to build some type of official "TMK canon" of the bands we are most likely to write about / the bands that matter vs the ones who are simply over-hyped and not worth attention... (seriously, who trusts Pitchfork anymore?)

This was quickly and hastily thrown together, so there's a good chance that some key records are missing, but whatever... Time for our super-slow unveil... Because no one asked for it... And here they is, them records that kicked some ass...

Nas “Stillmatic” (2001)
Neon Indian “Psychic Chasms” (2009)
Panic! At the Disco “A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out” (2005)
Ringo Deathstarr “Sparkler” (2009)
Sleep “Dopesmoker” (2003)
The Used “The Used” (2002)

Notes: It's not a coincidence that there is only 1 album on this list that was released in 2007, since 2007 was the worst year in the history of popular music. (Edit: We just added "Kala" to the "Close calls" which brings the total to 2, but still... I mean, c'mon...)

Those searching for high placements from the likes of The National, Fleet Foxes, LCD Soundsystem, Joanna Newsom or Battles may consider searching elsewhere, because they did not stand a chance here.

We enjoy The Hold Steady, Vampire Weekend, Bon Iver, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, New Pornographers, Clinic, etc etc etc... but we don't come back to those records all that often. They weren't forgotten or anything.. but they're just kinda boring in comparison to other stuff.
